One swallow doesn’t make a Spring and for the PC market nor does the surprising growth driven by the replacement of XP operating systems in corporate market lead to a sustained revival of what we now know to be the second largest IT product market the world has ever known. In 2014 overall there was a 2.1% growth to $179.4b in revenue from PC brand owners. Unit shipments grew 5.4% to 236m, while the installed base grew 2.0% to reach 737m. But the market has peaked (see Figure). We don’t expect to see another year of revenue growth ever.
