Market Definition/Description
General-purpose disk storage systems are designed to address shared storage requirements within a single system that can support multiple virtual or physical servers, hosted virtual desktop (HVD) infrastructures, multiple databases and files. This market segment includes midrange, high-end and NAS systems, and hybrid arrays. Solid-state arrays are not included in this report because Gartner has created an SSA Magic Quadrant that can provide better insights into this rapidly changing market.
